Next level 16/04/2012
Feel like living in a video game lately. Had to pass through many barriers on each level. Went through many things in the last couple of months, it's been a hell of a ride! And Im still in game. Expect loads of characters, enemies, foregrounds, multiple levels. Environments are large and encourage exploration. Looking at it with an artistic eye I must admit the plot n graphics are pretty amazin n drop jaws. Analyzing: Level 1 -violent- set in Liverpool Had stayed there for awhile. Arrived a week before LACED where I was gonna compete. Unfortunately I got involved in a fight after a night out while there. Was lost in the night with no sight of any friends. You might realized by now this is a single player game. No jumping into a co-op play sesh. Whatever came had to face it alone. So it happened that a bunch of crackhead girls beat me up with no reason while walking back to my hotel, sure they misunderstood my sign language. Thanx god we were outdoors, otherwise I would hv come out of the ceiling. The colours of the rainbow all have their own unique beauty but deffo not on my face! Was horrrible. Therefore was missing out on the comp and headed back to Mcr. Level 2 -wierd- Set in Manchester Came to realize I had no longer hv my passport just few days before Winterclash. Mission. More Likely Impossible. Or how the hell u think I could hv passed the boarder with no ID and a badly smashed face? Came up with an idea..but didn’t want to turn up like that and ruin my image anyway.. Level 3 –creepy- Set in Edinburgh Where a ghost crept upon me in a property, I broke in to shoot some photos. A random tourist joined me but he stuck inside n got caught. I hv never climbed a fence that fast in my life..onto a statue n when got on the ground ran away n kept takin photos from a shrub. The city offered plenty of options for outdoors adventure, like climbing, biking, skating in the local park where I caught up with an old friend of mine. Put a short clip together, which meant to show no big tricks but feelings, the fact how much we appreciate what the other does. Make sure you chechk it here: http://vimeo.com/38167324 I met some amazin dudes at the hotel. We all know that I do hv a lot of bad luck when it comes to trying to get from point A to point B. Well these guys managed to miss 6 flights all together in just one week!! And I thought my travel carma was bad! Anyway the amount of fun we had just insane. Level 4 -crowded- Set in London Moved down south. Apart from the street spots..Just can’t get to like it. Didn’t like the cops here either n visa versa. Level 5 -dirty- Set in Miskolc Arrived in town for a comp and a wicked food festival. Bankcard was left in England, leaving me literaly with no money for the weekend. I was accomodated in the worst hostel ever, no hot water, no fridge, no nothing. Yet the place was fully booked. Not to mention that I helped some folks sneaking in too. We were playin some drinking card game which resulted in chaos. Some mutant bloodsucking and biting lice attacked my head. This made my headache tripple worse that came with the hangover next day. Yet managed to show up at this inline jam and was shredding with the Hun guys. Was scratching my head like crazy though while skating which was very distracting. It certainly drifted my attention away from what I was focusing on. (I manage to do a tricky stall on a window seal which I quite liked.) But the bad luck didn’t stop there. Had to put up with some very budget food which I kept on the top of my wardrobe due to not having a freaking fridge in the building. While trying to reach it climbing up there, the wardrobe decided to fall and collapse on me. Being the only person in the room, someone had to break the door in to help me. I hated myself for travelling with a mega sized backpack, since my back was killing me next day. So as my stomach! As the saying suggest ’eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will hapen to u the rest of the day’, thought I should think ’ bout it, though envisioning the process is not a pretty thing. Well someone was ’kind’ enough to invite me for a traditionally prepared juicy big froggy meal at the food fest – baring in mind that I could not afford to eat a nice meal in the last couple of days- I bravely took on the challenge. Tried to kiss it first but didn’t work so left no choise but tuck it in. Well it wasn’t a piece of cake! Anyway completed an important task to save the day. To get through this level I was hitchiking home. Level 6 –hardcore- Set in Jászberény The main challenge here was to survive the late night outs, and sick skate sesh day by day. Don’t know why is this obsession about bridges.. I was sessioning one again. More precisely was skating underneath it. Bad timing though. Some ppl carried out work on the riverside. Had to wait until they went on their lunch break. Then I could hv a little bit of fun fooling around. At my last trick when I was trying to jump off the bridge onto the bank , faceplanted the ground and lost a tooth. Which I only realized a good couple of hours later, after visiting a takeaway n sweetshop.. Meaning I didn’t get any cash from the Tooth Fairy coz I swallowed it. I was raging like crazy! Also it was bankholiday weekend with no emergency dental care. So was haunting on the dance floor with the wild party animals that weekend, the missing tooth gave me the real party monster look for sure.. But I was leaning more to being a loner so had to get back on my doomed mission to complete the game. After my tooth got fixed was off again. Found it pretty ironic that I ended up having a bridge in my mouth to cover the gap created by the missing tooth.. Level 7 –chilled- Set in Holland Just chillin the dutch way in tuliptown. Amazin flowers, fields of dreams.. Officially living on the road out of a suitcase. Moved out for good. Got back on the road. I’m in a tuk-tuk right now.... Pause First of all the reason I hv not updated for so long is not coz I was so busy or forgot my password, simply because I didn't want to. Felt good to hide away from the ppl, the crowd. Loved it! Lot of ppl think I stopped sk8in' which is not true. I hv just been doing it on my own. My own way. Someone told me the other day I should start writing children books. Kinda agree with him.. So here is the story for tonight: Once upon a time there lived an odd little girl whose only friend in the world was her poppy dog. She had an amazing summer visiting loads of new random places, n of course her hometown to see her much loved doggy. She finished her european trip this year in Holland. Stuck in the country actually. There were no night trains she sadly observed. So went to join some locals who invited her to a VIP party. She agreed to help them sorting out the place next morning, also had to try all the shots n a wide range of beers if wanted to stay. Next thing she can remember waking up in hosp in Manchester. Tried to puzzle it out what an earth could hv happened but when she saw a pic of herself taken in Belgium the night before, just gave it up. She must hv been stoned. But this much? Finding a real stone in her throat is just absurd. Appearently she has this special ability to grow stones in her throat. This 1 just kept on growing n growing until she could no speak, swallow or breath. She was welcomed by the doc that morning who told her the brill news: Her throat needs to be cut open n her precious stone needs to be taken out along with her gland. Hoped she was just halucinating from the other night. Hell no! One night two bumblebee families decided to build their nests right next to her window. Which was obviously open. They annoyed her a lot by being noisy. She managed to fall out of her bed as well as her little stone from her throat. It was 3 in the morning and the nurse had to call the bee keepers out to the ward. "Get off my bumblebees!!"-shouted the girl. "They're my friends, they saved my life." she ghasped. All eyes were fixed on her. She felt tired to explain it all and kinda inappropriate at 4 in the mo. So just let them think she is mental. She treasures the little yellow stone in a special case. Soon she was out hosp. No operation needed! YET. She was suggested not to move anywhere far untill it's sorted. Since it's just came out of nowhere it might happen again. So she is staying in the UK n the EU for now, n trying to survive here. Soon she will be off to those places she has been dreaming of to go.. Although it isn't easy here, surviving is gonna B tripple hard over there I guess. Check out the highlights of her diary from the past 2 months bellow: "-I came close to being robbed tonight, after a house party! Thought those guys were there too n just trying to fool me coz I nearly cooked their dog. Freakin lunatics they were! Dragged me in the car, where I threw up, broke it open n run for my life. Ok I actually hided in a bush." "-I'm not a big drinker but occiasionaly the drunk fairies visit me. Especially when there's an after party. I hv a cocktail or two... Still I was shocked when getting up in front of a group of ppl n someone accused me of beating him up in front of the doorman at a club. Just don't understand why my nose was smashed that morning. Can't remember at all. Hangover 3 should be based on this adventure. Sure I got a tattoo as well just not found it yet.. Though I'm a bit scared to find out what really happened last night." "-After all that skating, managed to stay safe. No injuries at all. Today I walked into a wall hurting my hand, it's all covered in blood, scars everywhere. I'll get my skates on next time I go for a walk. I rely on my skates more than my shuz or any other parts of my wardrobe. We became so attached, now we're inseparable." "-Someone threw bricks at my coach window while on the way to London. Why is everyone after me?" "-Dear diary, I've been up for about 54 hours with no sleep, I'm now seeing shadows, hearing things, can barely remember my name. Just about to drop dead." "-Today I went for a walk with my doggy n a random fella, while hving a break sat down...in a catapult, then with barely any warning was shot out in the air! It's a shame I had a hangover. And the guy must hv though I'm a freakin idiot." "-Managed to loose my GoPro cam after hving it for a couple of weeks. But luck was on my side again, someone found it in the man's toilet n left it at the reception... Don't ask! But it was fun to watch back...haha " "-Draft version of a very important letter: Dear Peter Pan, I’m still waiting on you. My window will forever B open. I don’t want Prince Charming. I don’t need Superman. I just want a simple Peter Pan. Life’s going by far too quickly, so come be4 its too late! I’m not ready to grow up. Take my hand in yours n let's fly away! Love, Mel ♥" "-.......Sick sessions around the Uk! ............................................ Rock n Roll forever." Did she live happily ever after? -story to be continued- Night night x Going through Hell 21/09/2010
But just keep going. Horrible times, at least I got my voice back by now. This shall pass too. Never, never give up! Me myself dont hv to deal with cancer thankfully, just want to help those who have to, help people improve their attitudes. One study found 60% of women who had been treated for the disease attributing their continued survival to a "positive attitude". In many articles and on websites, individuals take pride in this lifesaving mental state. A simple optimistic attitude has been shown to reduce the risk of cancer! Positive thinking can't hurt. Never forget, the real obstacle lies in your mind! This event I participate in is not only bring in money, but also raise awareness about cancer and give hope to the people. And there is hope that in the future, with better funding, more research, earlier diagnosis and more treatment options, more patients will win. P.S. Some missing pics/videos hv been uploaded from my earlier stops to proove I hv been there done it all. See you in Poland! Nyiregyhaza, Jaszbereny 18/09/2010
Please rain, just go! I was doing well without you. On the way to Nyiregyhaza I was caught in rain again. It ruined the competition I supposed to attend plus made me sick. I feel poorly, having a very bad cold. Flue sucks! Im in Jászberény at my mum's. Its nice to be at home and all that, but this house is a fuckin prison. They all insist I must stay in bed. HAd to escape to be able to skate the park today. Even if for 10 min. Was nice to go back where I hv started, but strange to see a totally new generation. Im now living on pills. I hv a couple of days to rest and get myself ready for the rest of the trip. Istanbul, Sofia, Bucharest, Szeged 16/09/2010
Now Im up to my neck with work, uploading stuff. Firstly I had no acces to internet lately. All the modern stuff leave ppl utterly unmoved in these parts of Europe. Most of them are said to be conservative. On the other hand, Words failed me. People hv been ever so helpful everywhere. I really appreciate their input. Ppl who hv been with me, made these occasions so very special, hope we remain close. I guess I hv done quite well so far, half of the tour is over, and I think I would never grew tired of it! Right now Im in Hungary. Bit dissapointed. Never mind. The park was nice. Will go to my next stop with a smile on my face n skate. The important thing is never to let myself down. Quite frankly I hv missed this country like bloody hell. We arrived early in the morning in Romania. We were randomly roaming the streets of the city. As a result we got lost. Felipe decided to stay with me, we then were picked up by Baloo, a local skater and his girlfriend and went to their place. It had a great deal of comfort, there's also happened to be a skateshop in his room. Pretty cool. He worx for Hedon. As a skater owned company they try and stand up for the skating community. They do it for the passion and give voice to the idea. They organize events, just got back from some tour. So determined to get their point across. Their extraordinary belief in this sport amazes me. They fed us, helped us, took care of us.What a marvellous idea, how lovely of them to think of pleasing him as well as me. Great way of influencing. I might add. These guyz made such a powerfull impact on him. Felipe certainly realized that skating is a lot more than just a sport. Its about friendship, brotherhood, LOVE we share. He just fell in love with it and will surely deliver the message to many others! This is it! Teaching the importance of the team spirit. A message to follow! Im so impressed by they clever strategy. I can see the sence. The park we skated was really my cup of tea! Met at least 4 girl skaters. Superb. We happened to take the wrong metro and were very late to catch our train. We were in a great rush, Baloo dealt with my suitcase, wondering what on earth I carry in it. We were running the lenght of the corridor.. Christ, yes! Just made it on time. We both took the train to Hungary. Felipe surely is another dear companion on my trip. Im heading to Szeged, he is travelling to the capital. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making us feel so welcome. In Sofia unfortunately I couldn't find the so called Skate garden. I was told it didn't exist any more. So I was skating near the station. Woohoho I really fancied this spot. Had to leave after about an hour, coz this homeless guy came around and was so overjoyed watching me, or just kept his eyes on my stuff, not sure, but got scared of his shoddy behaivor. When I got some mail saying this place I supposed to be is still there and ppl were actually waiting for me, I got mad. Im sorry. We catch up next time! Met a guy from Columbia, who seemingly was struggling at the ticket office. They had an issue with his visa, n didn't want to let him go to Hungary. Tried to offer my help, soon we became friends, then he joined me to Bucharest. When I arrived in Istanbul just was wondering how could I ever get to the right place, this city is like the size of a country. But i had, and in no time at all. Ozan picked me up n we headed to the place they normally skate. Drove to the Asian side of Istanbul, meaning its officially a world tour now.. Never heard of skaters from Turkey, suddenly there were 30 of us skating there which came as a genuine surprise to me. I felt like sun shines out of me, felt a sudden thrill of pleasure at being there. Such an inviting place, with its glorious beach, welcoming, happy atmosphere! The breathtaking sceene was forever etched in my mind. They have a nice box and some other bits on the so called Caddebostan sea side. Hm. Puzzlement flickered in my eyes. They were wondering what was on my mind. Just after seconds we built a skatepark out of benches and some other objects. Enjoyed every minute of the day and had lots of fun. No doubt about that, whatsoever. So glad we could have this bit of special time together. They have a special hold on my heart. Great hospitality! We were chekkin the city out, having sum beer before i left for Sofia. On the way back to the station we got in traffic. Screeching tyres and maddly hooting horns, crazy. N all of us needed the toilet quite badly. Managed everything. Thank you for all you have done for me! Quick journey back home 11/12/2009
Just travelled without my case lately, guess it needed some time off. Felt like going on a trip back to home, n my suitcase got involved too this time. Just cant believe its all happening. Overslept in the morning, then looking for my ID since Uni has my passport. Suppose to fly in the afternoon. Bought a new mp3 player for the journey, because broke the other one. Just realized dont hv a clue how to charge it. So went back to find out.Which was a silly mistake to make. Thanx to that missed my train to East Midlands. The doors shut in front of my very eyes. i was then told to go platfrom 6, but for some strange reason I mixed it up with 7 and got on the London train. Maybe because thats my fav number, dont know, just made me wanna go there. Got off, just in time, but not on time for the right one anyway. So off to customer service. Seemingly was missing my ticket, just the printed timetable i what i got with me. Stupid. Asked 3 diff ppl, got 3 diff answers, letting me down im too late. But after a long process we figured out i can still make it in time with 3 changes. Got on train anyway, found a reasonable rout to take, with 2 trains, taxi plus airport shuffle. That left no time to explore Derby, which was part of the plan , so just travelled through. In the big rush i left my favourite flask behind!! Was dying for a coffee, just couldn`t believe i spilled all the sugar over my bagpack. That coffee made me feel sick anyway. So there i was on a bus feeling sick. And actually i was.Bus was full of course, dont even hv to mention.Went 2 the front to appologize to the driver, when i happened to be sick again. Damn.. In time at the airport though! While emptying my pocket at the chekin point, all my paper, Id, ticket was covered in red lipstcik. Oops. Got away with it, but rather an unpleasent situation. On the way to boarding tried to sort out some fine on phone i got earlier for travelling without any ticket. Took ages. Had a nice time in Hungary. Sweet home 24/08/2009
Im so glad that finally can be with my loved ones. Words failing me. So good to be here. Just made it to the fireworx, cought it on the way to town actually... yeap im to blame.. two full of wardrobes of clothes still nothing to wear... So me. Anyway, dancing away the night in the street, free rounds of welcoming drinks... endless stories.. Spent loads of time with my sis, travelled to cities nearby, visited chatedrals, a famous wine cellar.. , the sport museum, a casttle on rememberence day. Also went on a bike tour, Were out picknicking, climbing trees, fishing on a boat, caving, swimming a lot, buying nearly everything on a sunday at a car boot sale, including a phone for like £5, which came handy since i own none. Hm not that i mind, But. So just enjoying the Summer in the city. But time went so fast.. Now Im going to Slovakia. Set of late due to a very bad hangover. Eger 20/08/2009
Serious pain in my back...could feel every spring and every wire in the mattresses last night. I was in shock at the whole thing. Got on a train this morning , thought from here nothing could go wrong. Woke up from daydreaming, when a bottle just slightly missed me coming straigth from outside. A crazy huligan thought its fun throwing stuff onto moving trains.. Made my way up to Budapest. But not stayed. Travelled further, to Eger. There was a local skating event today, thought would turn up n meet some new ppl. Dont know any skaters from back home. Only 1, who got me into it.. Came third, the kids were very impressed, they all thought i was from England. We had so much fun! Also fell during my last trick quite badly, my mum is not gonna be overjoyed..Ohh Anyway all wraped up have to rush now to get back home in time. Theres a summer festival in town. I'm VERY excited... but more anxious that I'll make it there on time, hopefully somewhat well rested. We shall see...hopefully rollerblade and train gods will shower good luck on me for the next 24 hours! |
