Barcelona 04/09/2010
This place was busy as always. This time I tried to keep my distance from crazy ppl. Everytime I come here I always get robbed. Showed my bag around, I was firstly skating at the Paral-lel place, where I met a bunch of skaters from Scotland. Then payed a visit to the concrete bowl which is on the seaside. Havin a BIG issue with public transport. Dont know why the gate numbers have to show up on the screen 4 min before deparuting. Impossible to catch ur train. Expecially packed up like me. Climbing stairs in a rush, pushing each other, squeezing through the crowd, fighting to get there first.. Perfect time for a pocket picker. My much loved book has gone by the way. Thats about the train, but its even more insane out there on the roads. My bag was hit by a car and my laptop got smashed as a result. Thats why i could not update lately. On top of all when it comes to leaving the city, no night trains, I observed sadly. Managed to reserve the very last seat on a coach to Marseille. Madrid 03/09/2010
Today I hv reached Madrid. Exercise in the morning is important..To kickstart my day I was running after some security guys like a dog, to get my case back, they were desperate to take it, since i hv left it unattended for few min.Just checked out the city, bumped into a spanish fella in a bar, who fixed my computer. Turned out he is into skating too. Now im on my way to the park. Well the day I got behind is just amazing! Firstly I very much doubted it would hv turned out to be a good day, since the park was near nowhere just for starters. Every1 was shocked why I picked the worst place to skate in Madrid. The so called ghetto Getafe.. But I thought the opposite. I liked it, maybe small n quiet but with the best ppl. The atmosphere was incredible! Lots of kids around, we really enjoyed sessioning together. I hv learned sum flatland tricks, n showed some stuff on blades. I was dropped into a completely different world, heavily influenced by hip hop style. I got to know sum break dance moves, tried some street running.. I enjoyed myself so much, just forgat about time… Off course missed the last train to Barcelona. So I had to wave good by to the hotel stay. So stuck here. Had to collect my bags from the lockers though before they close, since they only open tomorrow at 7, n my train leaves at 6. it’s a new routine, keeping only my skates in the case, travel light, n leave everything behind. I hv overpacked it again.. Some guys from the park offered to come with me, because Catocha station at night is a nightmare. But sadly enough we had to find out I left my stuff at the other station. It was actually shut by the time we got there. Decided to heading back to the skate park, to have a party. Somehow I trusted them, we r like a big family, we tend to cooperate. So we were chilling outside the park in the street, got to find out that Mahou is the best Spanish beer, n had to make sure of it few times.. I hv settled under a tree with my suitcase, to hv a nap on a cardboard boxed placed on the floor. I was told they would wake me up when they leave. Well I woke up facing a t-shirt saying its beer time, shortly enough a police badge caught my eye too. Great, I thought Im in a big trouble, again. Got no clue how I was gonna explain all the mess, `smell` n empty bottles around me, of course all the others buggered off by that time. Fortunately found a copy of the flyer, n tried to tell them what was really going on. When I said I live in Manchester, we were started to chat about footy, then food, n soon we became friends! They were the coolest officers I hv ever met! We changed contacts, shook hands, n they wished me good luck. If anyone ever in trouble here, they r the best to get in touch with..It was 4 o`clock when they took me back to the station, but before I had to join them hunting for this random guy who just robbed someone. Now, heading to Barcelona. |
